Defence Builder is adding an AI track to DB Accelerator Batch 4.0. The track has been developed together with Sigma Software Group, one of Defence Builder’s co-founders, and will run alongside the programme’s military and business tracks for the teams selected into the cohort.
The track responds to a pattern the accelerator has seen across its recent cohorts: an increasing number of teams apply with AI already in their products, while few have a clear view of where AI delivers a measurable result for a defence tech company and where it only adds complexity to the product and the business.
“The military don’t buy AI, they buy a result in the field. Investors look at the same thing. We want to help teams build AI into their products in a way that holds up in front of both,” said Valery Krasovsky, Co-founder and CEO of Sigma Software Group.
The AI track consists of three components. The first is a workshop on AI in operations, covering the use of AI in documentation, reporting and grant applications. The second is a workshop on AI in R&D, delivered by a DB Accelerator alumnus who builds AI-based defence solutions, on where AI has proved useful in their development process and what they would do differently. The third is a series of individual sessions for teams whose products are built around AI.
Valery Krasovsky will be personally involved in the track, together with the Sigma Software AI team.
Sigma Software Group has spent 24 years building software for clients ranging from venture-backed startups to Fortune 500 companies, and today designs and operates production-grade AI systems in defence, GovTech, finance, healthcare, automotive and telecom. The company brings together 2,000+ engineers, data scientists and AI specialists in 40+ offices across 20+ countries. The track is built on what these teams have learned from deploying AI in real products.
DB Accelerator Batch 4.0 is a four-month programme for defence and dual-use teams with a working prototype. Applications are open until 30 October 2026.
