Defence Builder and the Defense Innovation Unit (DIU) of the U.S. Department of War will hold an online workshop for Ukrainian defence tech companies on cooperation with the U.S. defence market. The workshop will take place on Monday, 19 October 2026, at 19:00 Kyiv time (09:00 PDT).

DIU is the U.S. Department of War's main point of contact with commercial and non-traditional technology companies. The unit scouts technologies, contracts with companies on accelerated timelines and supports the transition of commercial products into military use. In January 2026, the Department of War designated DIU a permanent Field Activity as part of a wider realignment of its innovation ecosystem.

During the workshop, the DIU team will explain how the unit identifies and assesses technologies, what it expects from commercial suppliers and through which mechanisms companies can cooperate with the Department of War. The session will also include time for participants' questions.

Defence Builder works with more than 30 Ukrainian defence tech companies through its accelerator and venture fund. The workshop with DIU is intended for Ukrainian teams that are preparing to enter the U.S. market or are considering cooperation with U.S. defence partners, so that they can learn the Department of War's expectations directly before planning their next steps.
